No Perfect Meditator
When I started the practice of meditating several years ago, I had an idea of how it was supposed to be.
Dark room, calm, silent, the mind clears very quickly, and presto…into a state of transcendence.
Fast forward, and it’s way different than I thought it would be.
Meditation is a tool.
A versatile tool.
And, because of that, its use is unique across a spectrum of circumstances and settings.
Personally, meditation does help calm my mind.
But it’s not typically immediate and not typically perfect.
Some days are better than others, too.
Overall, though, it does take my mind from a state of chaos to one of more order.
It helps me go from hyperactive thoughts to more peace and serenity.
It normally does it through a gradual process rather than shutting my racing brain off like a light switch.
