Connect The Dots
Remember when we were kids and had the connect-the-dots books?
We'd dig into them with chunky crayons and multi-colored pens.
From 1 to 2, then 2 to 3, 3 to...until all connections were made.
Then, the completed picture would jump out at us.
I loved those!
As adults, almost everyone has forgotten how to connect the dots.
To draw a straight line from this politician or celebrity or billionaire to that criminal, murderer, thief, or pedophile.
We can do it, but we won't.
Because it shows us the ugliness we've bought into.
The reflection of our shallow values and the terrible reality that often makes up our identities.
It reveals our hypocrisy.
Saying we're pro-life while voting for and worshipping warmongers who kill innocent children.
Shouting liberty, freedom, democracy, and praise for the free market, all while supporting the worst of humanity in our government and businesses.
Connecting the dots as an adult often means digging in places that are beautiful on the surface, but full of dead men's bones.
It means removing a little superficial dirt to know the associations of the ones who tell us who to be and what to think.
